Gears 5 - Pahanu

At Splash Damage I got the opportunity to work on another multiplayer map, the jungle map Pahanu- specifically on the strangler vine/volcanic areas. This one was a technical achievement to try and convey the idea of a dense jungle whilst maintaining a 60fps framerate, and Tech Art was a lot of help here, creating shaders that allowed us to achieve a nice level of foliage on the cheap. I worked alongside Julius Peters, Matthew Southall and Matthias Riegler on the Environment Art team splitting the map between us, lighting by Derek Patterson, VFX by Raul Calderon, tech art support by Jon Langford and art direction by Nikolay Georgiev, Jacob Mandt, Ben Cottage and our partners at The Coalition.
